Conclusions

The success of the Argentine peanut cluster is a clear evidence of a singular efficiency and determination. While other producing-exporting countries subsidy their peanut production and even their peanut exports, the Argentine peanut farmers and shellers do not receive any kind of internal aid. Further, they pay export duties to receive governmental authorization that enables them to export.

The first position achieved in the international market is a huge conquest for the Argentine peanut industry, for it has to struggle in a misbalanced battle against competitors that enjoy protectionist measures by their Official structures.

The excellence of our peanut products is such that most of the peanut producing countries increasingly buy Argentine peanuts, e.g. China and India, the first and second higher peanut producers in the world. Other traditional producers, as the USA, South Africa, Mexico, Turkey, Brazil, Australia and Egypt import Argentine peanuts as well.

In this expansion process, the Provincial Government through Agency PROCORDOBA, and the Foundation EXPORTAR, dependent of the Federal Government, supported the participation of the Argentine Peanut Chamber in international trade fairs and commercial missions abroad; their collaboration significantly helped to expand the presence of Argentine peanuts all over the world.

Respectful accomplishment of contracts, strict adjustment to food safety legislation, careful attention of our clients, post-sale supervision of customer's satisfaction: these are some of the reasons for competitiveness that made Argentine peanut industry a reliable market leader.

The extraordinary synergies achieved by the peanut cluster are the result of a serious commitment adopted by all the actors in the production chain, thus building unity and collaborative strengths in pursuant of a long-term project. Those fruitful synergies were possible because all players in the peanut cluster early understood that this chain should be based on real sustainability, not only taking into account economical and commercial factors, but social and environmental aspects as well.
